Finally Redmi announces the Redmi K40 series composed of three flagships: Redmi K40, K40 Pro and K40 Pro +. Exactly as it had been leaked, while the standard model will bring out the best of the 7nm chip generation with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870, the Redmi K40 Pro will take advantage of the best of the new generation with the Snapdragon 888.
In addition to their processors, the main difference between the three teams is the composition of their triple cameras, which we will go into in detail below. For the rest, they all share the same internal memory options – with the curious exception of the Redmi K40 Pro + -, the same front camera, the same battery and the same screen.

Redmi K40 series details
As we had anticipated in previous paragraphs, this description of the Redmi K40 series will be quite simple. In principle, all of them sport the same impressive AMOLED E4 screen manufactured by Samsung that, in this case, has a diagonal of 6.67 inches and in the center of its upper end we will see its embedded 20MP selfie camera.
This display is protected by Gorilla Glass 5, Corning’s second strongest glass after Gorilla Glass Victus. And it is that the display of the Redmi K40 series summarizes much of the incredible experience of these devices, offering a refresh rate of 120Hz, a peak brightness of up to 1300nits and HDR 10+ image technology with MEMC.
If we do not find fingerprint readers on the right side edge -from a frontal perspective- where all its buttons are grouped and not on its back face, it is because it is located behind the lower sector of its AMOLED screen. That’s true for the Redmi K40, Redmi K40 Pro, and Redmi K40 Pro + alike.
Even the way the three lenses and their respective LED flash are grouped together in a rectangular compartment divided by a blacker colored oval is identical on all three Redmi K40s. Also the 8MP sensors in ultra wide angle lenses and 5MP in their telemacro lenses. What changes are its main sensors.
In its triple camera, the Redmi K40 sports a 48MP Sony IMX582, the Redmi K40 Pro a 64MP Sony IMX686 and, finally, the big brother of the family, the Redmi K40 Pro + brings out the power of the 108MP Samsung ISOCELL HM2 with Nonacell technology to take the clearest and densest 12MP photos on the market, after which the ISOCELL HM3 of the Galaxy S21 can get.
The entire Redmi K40 series is presented in the same three colors.
Power is another defining factor to separate these smartphones although we have already mentioned it: the Redmi K40 is shown with a Snapdragon 870, while the Redmi K40 Pro and K40 Pro + squeeze the juice from the only chip with 5nm process technology released. by Qualcomm so far: the Snapdragon 888.
Both the Redmi K40 and Redmi K40 Pro offer three and four internal configuration options, respectively: 6GB / 128GB, 8GB / 128GB, 8GB / 256GB, and 12GB / 256GB. This last memory configuration is not available for the Redmi K40 Pro and is instead the only one possible for the Redmi K40 Pro +.
In any of the cases Redmi has been careful and has used LPDDR5 RAM memory chips and UFS 3.1 ROM. The battery is another of the characteristics that the triplets share: a 4520mAh cell with 33W fast charging technology. This is perhaps the weakest point of the Redmi K40 as we expected a larger battery and / or a more powerful fast charge.
In any case, Redmi advertises the Redmi K40 series with all kinds of different prices. The Redmi K40s can be had, depending on their internal memory configurations, for approximately US $ 310, US $ 340, US $ 390 and US $ 420. The same are the Redmi K40 Pro that can be obtained for approximately US $ 435, US $ 515 and US $ 575.
Finally, the most expensive of all these models is the Xiaomi Redmi K40 Pro + with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage capacity that can be had for the approximate price of US $ 650.
