The company unveiled this smartphone that stands out for having an affordable price and a premium camera
Google unveiled its new Pixel 4a cell phone and announced that it will launch models designed for 5G networks later this year.
The new Pixel 4a has the basic features that made its predecessor popular, such as a sophisticated camera system. Its starting price of $ 349 is about half that of the flagship model of the computer giant, the Google Pixel 4. The new phone will be available in the United States from August 20.
“Last year, Pixel 3a gave people the opportunity to get the very useful features of the Pixel at a more affordable price,” said Google vice president of product management Brian Rakowski. He added: “This year, Pixel 4a and the first 5G-enabled Pixels, Pixel 4a (5G) and Pixel 5, which are coming this fall, will continue to offer the features that people love together in a stylish new device at more affordable prices. ”
The next Pixel 4a synchronized with 5G networks, which is still in production, will begin to market from USD 499 and will be available in Australia, Great Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Taiwan and the United States, according to Rakowski.
It features a 5.81-inch (147.6mm) display, with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 cover and a 3,140 mAh 2 battery (supports 18W fast charge). It integrates 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage and the processor is Qualcomm Snapdragon 730.
The rear camera is 12.2 MP dual pixel (1.4 μm pixel width), offering autofocus with dual pixel phase detection. The front camera, meanwhile, is 8 MP (1.12 μm pixel size), ƒ / 2.0 aperture and fixed focus.
The media that could test the team highlight that there are no differences between the high-end Pixel 4 camera and the Pixel 4a, which is the economic version. The camera stands out for having a night mode that allows you to take photos with great clarity at night or in dark areas.

The smartphone market
The global smartphone market “plummeted” in the second quarter of this year, with Apple remaining the only leading growth provider, according to market analysis firm Canalys. The Californian firm sold 45.1 million iPhones globally, an increase of 25% compared to the same period last year, Canalys reported.
Meanwhile, the global smartphone market fell 14% to 285 million units in a second consecutive quarter of decline amid the coronavirus pandemic, the firm said. “Until now, the purchasing power of consumers in major markets has remained relatively stable,” Canalys senior analyst Ben Stanton said in a statement.
“The real test will be in the coming months, as stimulus funds are cut and temporary licensing schemes are withdrawn.”
